TWIN CITIES DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISTS OF AMERICA (TCDSA)

Jennifer Nguyen Moore for Ramsey County Commissioner was one of two campaigns endorsed, the other campaign being Bradly McGarr for Shakopee City Council. Both candidates are socialists and DSA members eager to bring economic democracy and justice to local government. A total of seven campaigns sought the TCDSA endorsement.

"I am extremely honored to be endorsed by Twin Cities DSA. From the moment I went to my first meeting, I felt that I was with my people. I am excited to be part of an organization that authentically cares about eliminating disparities and poverty, electing someone who cares about those issues, and building a community. I am so excited to create a pathway for future DSA members and leaders of color so we can have audacious leaders elected and co-governing with us!" Jennifer said.

Following a surge of interest in DSA after massive mobilization against ICE and the victory of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Twin Cities DSA counts nearly 750 card-carrying members in the Minneapolis-St Paul metropolitan area. Members are organizing around issues from tenant rights to socialist feminism to Medicare-for-All and to fighting climate change. For more information about TCDSA, visit TwinCitiesDSA.org.

JULIE VANG, COMMUNITY ORGANIZER, FROGTOWN RESIDENT

"I am proud to support Jennifer Nguyen Moore for Ramsey County Commissioner, District 3. Her environmental and social justice background continues to amplify voices for our diverse communities that have been underrepresented in politics. Especially, that Jennifer lives and breathes Ramsey County Services her entire life, she understands the critical resources our residents need. She will add to the county's policies, programs, and services through her values of equity, fairness, and transparency to benefit all neighborhoods. She is a leader that is needed at our government's office today and in the future."

KATY CUMMINS-BAKKO, MOTHER WITH A DISABILITY, ORGANIZER, MIDWAY RESIDENT

"As an involved community member, I fully endorse Jennifer Nguyen Moore because she best represents people like me. She lives like most people I know, a mixed race family living in a diverse community working to unify and bring opportunities to all. She focuses on the strengths people bring and wants safety, equity and access to be what Ramsey County is all about, but is lacking for significant groups of underrepresented people living here, including political refugees, immigrants, non-native English speakers, non-politicians, lower to middle class workers, women of color, and young mothers, just to name a few. She offers a broad perspective not seen before. I proudly stand behind Jennifer as she gains a seat at the table in decisions that impact me and others who need her strong voice."

RICK HOWDEN, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROJECT MANAGER, RAMSEY COUNTY RESIDENT

"Jennifer Nguyen Moore is a leader for communities that have been historically under or even unrepresented. She saw firsthand how difficult it was for her family to make a better life here in the United States, despite the sacrifices her father made for this country. She has committed her life to ensure that we are a more welcoming community. I support Jennifer because she will be a tireless advocate for all residents in the County to ensure that we all succeed!"

MELVIN GILES, COMMUNITY ORGANIZER, PEACE ACTIVIST, RAMSEY COUNTY RESIDENT

"Jennifer is a true visionary when it comes to what we need to build healthy communities. She’s a fellow urban gardener and lives her values every day in her professional work. Her advocacy for environmental justice and passion for food independence is someone we need on the board. That’s why I support Jennifer Nguyen Moore for Ramsey County Commissioner in District 3."

JOEL HASKARD, HAMLINE MIDWAY RESIDENT

Jennifer has a strong background in environmental justice. Besides that, she has a holistic view of what can best be done with the over $700 million budget for counties to use. She has a fantastic vision of how we can make sure the funds will go to all neighborhoods.

KATIE NOVOTNY, MOTHER, HAMLINE MIDWAY RESIDENT

"I support Jennifer Nguyen Moore for Ramsey County Commissioner, District 3 because she understands and is an active listener to concerns and issues folks face in our community. From environmental issues to living wages to affordable rent to fighting racism, Jennifer stands up for the people of Ramsey County."

MARIELA OJEDA, FALCON HEIGHTS RESIDENT

"I have known Jennifer for about two years now through environmental justice work.  Watching her emerge with such dynamic and inspiring energy has restored hope in my perception of the unjust systems we currently face.  To know that Jennifer actually listens to and values each and every person's life experience, and focuses on uplifting those voices that have not been heard for decades, I cast my vote with confidence that restorative justice and true community is within our grasp."

JIM IVEY, BUSINESS OWNER AND RAMSEY COUNTY RESIDENT

Jennifer really impressed me. She’s clearly smart, hardworking and passionate, but more importantly, she has a lifetime of direct experience with the programs the county offers, and as important insights into their strengths/weaknesses and where they most urgently need to be improved. It’s a unique opportunity for Minnesota to have its first Vietnamese person elected in office.

MIKE PETERSON, COMO RESIDENT AND SUPER VOLUNTEER

I’m excited for Jennifer because I really think that Ramsey County should have a voice at the table who is strong on issues like racial equity, in an area that needs that focus so much; for environmental justice, someone who has been through the Ramsey County system, knows the struggles of it, that’s huge for me. And Jennifer brings all of that with a lens that is inclusive and reaching out to the community to co-govern in a way that from what I see is unprecedented in the Ramsey County race.

KAREN SOLAS, COMO RESIDENT

I am proud to support Jennifer Nguyen Moore for Ramsey County Commissioner, District 3. As a daughter of refugees whose family has utilized a range of county services, Jennifer understands the impact and importance of these services and programs. She brings lived experience, a background in environmental policy, social justice, and public service, and an action-oriented approach to the role of County Commissioner. She will work to elevate the voices of those who have not historically been heard and to build equitable systems and a healthy community for all Ramsey County residents.

YVONNE MCKINTOSH, NORTH END RESIDENT

First of all, just her being a woman of color, taking on this responsibility when there has never been an Asian woman sitting on our county commissioner board is large for me. The transparency that she’s trying to bring to the board and the civic engagement she wants to see more in our community is something that I think is profound. There’s not enough people that look like us that are trying to represent us.

TRI TRINH, STUDENT

Jennifer is the daughter of Vietnamese refugees as her family risked their lives to seek asylum from the Vietnam War. By beating all odds and receiving many opportunities to be successful, she’s been rising with valuable knowledge through her education and career experiences in the public sector. Jennifer is representing the Vietnamese-American community and other ethnic communities in District 3. It is a milestone in which Jennifer will not only be the first Asian commissioner, but also the first Vietnamese-American elected official in the state of Minnesota. I know Jennifer will create remarkable impact in her political endeavors as Ramsey County Commissioner.

KARIN GROENING, NORTH END RESIDENT

I support Jennifer Nguyen Moore for County Commissioner because she shares my progressive values. She is a strong advocate for sustainability and environmental justice and supports developing programs to reduce recidivism and create equitable development to help lift people out of poverty.
